Just a quick note:
We had to put our Rhodesian Ridgeback named Dot down the other day. She was 14 years old, we got her from the Humane Society when she was 3 years old.
She was a great dog, annoying at times, but a good dog. She is being missed everyday by her human family and our other dog Lucy. Dot was our first dog that Jeff & I had together, and our oldest, Ali was just three months old at the time.
We are decoupaging her picture on a rock, so when we get her ashes back we will sprinkle her in our back woods. She would spend hours back there sniffing down the deer and pheasants. I have not told many of my friends about her leaving us, so this was the easiest way, without me looking like a blubbering idiot.
Side note: We are going to try our hardest to stay out of the Humane Society. We want to wait a couple of years before bring home a new dog. We'll see how that goes.

I'm so sorry to read about the loss of your beloved pet, Dot. Thinking of you.
Ahh..I'm so sorry you lost your Dot. We put down our Akita two and a half years ago and 3 weeks later had a rescue Akita home with us. We just couldn't bear the thought of our empty arms and a dog needing a home.
In June we brought home an 8 week old Rottie (which I swore I'd never have) and she is the love of my life (next to my dh and kiddos!)
The tears from losing a pet are so hard to bear. Many hugs to you.
Please accept my sympathy on the loss of your furry friend. I lost my furkid Christmas. He was also a rescue I had for 15 years. I'm like you, it will take a while before I can visit the HS shelter.
