Web Site Wednesday (for teachers)

Here is a great thing I read at work in the break room the other night, and wanted to share it with all the teachers out there. If you are a teacher, or if you want to e-mail this post to your child's teacher you might want to take advantage of this offer from Target.

Target Field Trip Grants

Visit the zoo. Go backstage at a local theater. Tour a museum. Explore
more with a Target Field Trip Grant.

Target will award 5,000 Field Trip Grants of up to $800 each during the
2008-2009 school year. That adds up to 5,000 more opportunities for students to
explore more of the world outside the classroom.

Target had figured it out to be like 1 in every 25 schools that apply will receive one field trip. Why not let your child's classroom have an extra FREE field trip somewhere that they normally would get to go!

Our teachers do so much out of their own pockets, this would be a great way to help them do something magical for their kids without it costing them a cent.

Who Is Eligible For a Grant?

Education professionals who are at least 18 years old and employed by an
accredited K-12 public, private or charter school in the United States that
maintains a 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1) tax-exempt status are eligible to apply.
Educators, teachers, principals, paraprofessionals or classified staff of these
institutions must be willing to plan and execute a field trip that will provide
a demonstrable learning experience for students.

Who Is Not Eligible?

Parents
Volunteers
Childcare centers
After-school programs
Pre-K groups
Any other individuals who do not meet the eligibility criteria listed above

Application Deadline

Applications must be submitted electronically to Scholarship America
between September 2, 2008 at 12:01 a.m. CT and November 1, 2008 at 11:59 p.m.
CT. No hard copy paper applications will be accepted. SPONSOR (Target and
Scholarship America) is not responsible for late, misdirected or incomplete
applications or applications not received by Scholarship America. All applicant
submissions become property of the SPONSOR and will not be returned. By
submitting an application, applicants agree to provide other information and
documentation as may be reasonably requested by judges or SPONSOR. Applications will be judged by Scholarship America, whose decisions will be final in all
respects. In the event of a tie, the applications will be re-judged based on the
criteria.

So there are some of the rules, now you are asking how do I or my child's teacher apply? Just click here for all the legal information and application. It is just that easy! Good luck!

If your a teacher and you win a grant, or you are a parent and your child's teacher wins a grant, please come back and leave a comment and let us all know. I would be so happy if one of my readers would win a field trip. I learned alot in school, but I remember the field trips more than anything.
